Aberystwyth Office Space to Be Completed in 2010
A new office area for the assembly government base costing about £20m has been opened in Aberystwyth recently. The area is planned to house 535 employees of economy, heritage, and transport as well as those from rural affairs department.
The base opened at the initiative of First Minister Rhodri Morgan is also scheduled to relocate over 120 staff members from other areas in addition to the new posts that are expected to come into existence with the new shared offices building. It is also to be noted that in the series of regional offices, wherein first office was opened in 2006 in Merthyr Tydfil. The last link is the series is the North Wales office that will be completed in 2010.
The beginning of 2010 has been decided as the tentative date for accommodating at least 460 out of 535 employees. All the new appointees might be working in the office itself. The prime focus of the building has been on increasing the civil servant jobs across the country.
According to First Minister Morgan, the step taken is in furtherance of the attempt of state to show that it is trying to get services to the people of Wales, right in their neighbourhood. He also added that the ministry is keen on keeping people informed of its activities on a regular basis as well as on engaging with them locally.
In fact Morgan believes that the construction of new office spaces would enable the citizens to interact with the government in a better way and present their views before them in a more convenient and friendly way.
